RONALD BUNYAK, 72 | WCCS AM1160 & 101.1FM

Ronald D. Bunyak, 72, of Clymer, Pa., went to Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, Pa.C. on Monday, November 28, 2022 to be with the Lord

Ron was the eldest son of Emery and Margaret (Bichko) Bunyak of Heilwood, PA., born May 31, 1950 at Mercy Hospital, Johnstown, PA.

He started working at the age of 10 delivering newspapers for the Indiana Gazette and the Barnesboro Star, followed by several years at various gas stations before graduating from Penns Manor High School. From there he worked for US Steel and Edgar Thompson Works in Braddock, PA. Then returned home and worked at McCreary Tire, Indiana, PA for five years before going to Indiana and Consol Energy Company’s Rochester and Pittsburgh coal mines, where he worked at several mines, Jane and Emily, Urling’s Three and Urling One with UMWA for 28 years, during which time he held various mining and union positions.

Ron was a member of the Roman Catholic Church of Resurrection, where he was past president of the Saint Anthony Parish Council and also chaired picnics and was instrumental in church-sponsored monthly dinners and New Year’s Eve parties. He was also a member of the Dixonville Moose and a former member of the Clymer Slovak Club.

Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing when he could and playing horseshoes, playing pool and occasionally playing cards with friends.

A true love was to cook and create recipes and pass them on to family and friends when perfected. Ron also braided palm trees for Palm Sunday and gave them away to family and friends and various parish priests. He also enjoyed traveling around Virginia, particularly Williamsburg, VA.

He is survived by his only son, Ronald D. Bunyak II and his girlfriend, Alicia and her family, brothers, Emery and wife Robin of Indiana, Mark Bunyak of Heilwood, sisters, Michele and husband Dennis Dignan of Cresson, Patti Bunyak of Heilwood, and Kristine and husband Rick Bussoletti of Marion Center and nieces and nephews, Ashley and Justin, and family Nathan and Melissa, and family.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marcia (Rusiecki) Bunyak, to whom he was married for 49 ½ years until her death on December 16, 2020, and eldest little sister, RoseAnn.

Friends will be welcomed Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the McCabe~Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St., Clymer. Ron’s funeral Mass will be at 10am on Friday at Clymer Church of the Resurrection with Fr James Morley celebrant. Burial will be at St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
